Additionally, she has been appointed co-chair of the Commission’s Education Committee. The Education Committee determines an area of research for the Commission to focus on each year, and promotes interaction with and support of other women’s groups.

Dr. James is a Certified Diversity Trainer with an emphasis on women’s issues, and sees the stewardship on the MCSW as a Commissioner as a perfect avenue for her to serve.

“I see many possibilities for the Commission’s work to dovetail with my work in the Instructional Leadership and Organization Development concentration of the Leadership and Learning master’s degree,” she said. “With the degree’s emphasis on leadership, training, staff and professional development, and my personal interests and background in career and workforce development, I am particularly excited about the research and service road ahead.”

The goals of the MCSW are to educate the public on women’s issues, to advocate on behalf of women’s issues and to celebrate women and their accomplishments. Its mission is to serve as a catalyst in moving all women forward.
