JU Marine Science Research Institute’s Dr. Gerry Pinto talks toxins on WJXT’s “This Week in Jacksonville”

Dr. Gerry Pinto, research scientist with Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Research Institute, and Dr. Radha Pyati, chair of the UNF Department of Chemistry, appeared Sunday, Oct. 27, on WJXT TV-4’s “This Week in Jacksonville” program to discuss toxins in the St. Johns River and the findings of the Sixth Annual State of the Lower St. Johns River Basin Report.

Pinto spoke at length about raised levels of contaminants in the water and the impact on marine life and the ecosystem.

The State of the River Report (www.sjrreport.com) is a collaboration among UNF, JU and Valdosta State University and is supported by the Environmental Protection Board of the City of Jacksonville.
