Davis College of Business makes bold move downtown

As many as 30 faculty members and students are helping entrepreneurs at CoWork Jax, a downtown business incubator, in an exclusive partnership with the Jacksonville University Davis College of Business.

“The CoWork Jax relationship offers JU students an opportunity to work with and around local entrepreneurs,” Davis College of Business Dean Dr. Don Capener. “JU faculty will also interact with angel investors and startup CEOs for real-world problem-solving and integrating what we’re teaching into the classroom.”

The Davis College of Business will use the CoWork Jax space for classes, recruitment open houses and alumni mixers. In addition, a CoWork Jax meeting room with innovative web collaboration technology will be renamed after the college.

“As part of Jacksonville’s only entrepreneurial undergraduate program, JU students can focus on entrepreneurial studies and earn a certificate of entrepreneurism in addition to a bachelor’s degree in business management,” Capener said. “JU is proud of our entrepreneurial history, with successful businesspeople such as Mike Shad (automotive), Brian Barquilla (publishing), Jim Dalton and Susan Masucci (advertising) and Matt Kane (software), demonstrating that we graduate entrepreneurs who grow Jacksonville.”
